Crafty Christmas Countdown: 3

I have two clay projects to share with you today.

The first is an ornament I made for my niece. Like me, she is of the opinion that adding a bow or holly to anything makes it Christmas themed so I made her this tater tot ornament. There will be a hole legend to go along with it but that is taking more time than I have right now. Stay tuned on that.

While I was making the ornament, I also made this little pendant for myself. This seems to be Marfalfa's dinosaur Christmas.

Crafty Christmas Countdown: 4

I was messing around with watercolor paint and managed to put together a decent night sky. Once the paint dried, I thought it might make some nice bookmarks. I added some trees with permanent marker and stars and sayings with white paint pen.

Crafty Christmas Countdown: 5

When I found this ornament at the dollar store, I knew it had crafty potential. Especially when I realized that the deer was attached to the wreath with a simple wire twist.

I set the deer aside for a future project, leaving me with a wreath of copper glitter antlers. The antler shapes begged for a nature theme but I wanted to be something offbeat. And since I've been a bit fascinated with opossums lately (there's definitely an opossum sock puppet in my future) it was the perfect fit. I made one larger mama opossum and five babies out of pompoms and pipecleaners with some glass beads for the mama's eyes. To make the wreath a bit more festive I added some tinsel pompoms.

Crafty Christmas Countdown: 6

On a trip to Bronner's Christmas Village, I spotted these weird Christmas rubber chickens.

Now, if you know anything about me you know I'm a fan of all things weird. I'm also kind of cheap and couldn't bring myself to spend that much on a little rubber chicken. So I figured I'd make my own. While I couldn't find rubber chickens that small I did find this fabulous sunglasses chicken at the dollar store.

I considered painting it yellow or beige like a regular rubber chicken but decided green was more festive. I did make the feet and beak orange and added red accents with some glitter to make it more festive. And then, as a nod to the original, I added a wreath around it's neck.

Crafty Christmas Countdown: 7

It's been a busy week, so I just have a quick one for you today. It's my annual Christmas farm display. I didn't add much this year. The dad is loading a box of gifts into the back of his truck to take into town for a toy drive and some farm hands are wrangling an oversized pipe cleaner garland.

Crafty Christmas Countdown: 8

I finally got my Christmas cards made! Good thing I deliver them by hand. This year I went with variations on a single basic design, drawn with colored pencil. For my verse, I chose James 1:17.

Crafty Christmas Countdown: 9

We're in the single digits, friends! So I think it's time for what has become one of my favorite Christmas crafts: peg dolls. I've started picking a character from a Christmas movie or cartoon and representing them in peg doll form. This year I picked my favorite from National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation: Aunt Bethany. I added Uncle Louis as well, mostly because I wanted to paint his toupee.
